Americans’ Work Hours

* To claim that “Americans work longer hours than people in any other nation” (“The State of the Nation Is Drowsy, Sleep Watchers Say,” March 28) is as absurd as it is misleading. Could you, for example, repeat those words, without blushing, in a face-to-face meeting with the indigenous women of Chiapas? Perhaps what the U.N.’s International Labour Organization meant is that Americans work longer hours for wages than people in any other nation. Big difference.
