Maria Muldaur has always displayed a deep love for the musical past, but she’s never showed it more thoroughly than on her new album, “Richland Woman Blues.” She salutes Bessie Smith and other great jazz and blues singers who influenced her with hearty interpretations of some of their signature songs. She’ll draw from the album on a tour that stops Friday in Dana Point.

Ballet Pacifica’s 10-year-old summer choreographers workshop continues to produce works for the Irvine company’s regular season. All three choreographers represented on this week’s program first created works for Ballet Pacifica in workshops over the years. We’ll see Ann Marie DeAngelo’s new “Successful Worry,” the official premiere of Rick McCullough’s “Nova!” as well as his earlier “No Less Than Every,” and William Soleau’s “Between People.”

Art
“One Minute of Your Time” is a brief survey of Southern California art from 1835 to 2001. Curated by Janet Blake and Tyler Stallings, the exhibition has 20 works that cover 17 historical periods from early California and Impressionism to popular culture. The art includes painting, sculpture, photography, drawings and installations by artists such as John Baldessari, Llyn Foulkes, Peter Krasnow, Rico Lebrun and Millard Sheets.
