A victory over Villa Park was all it took to catapult the Santa Margarita and Edison boys’ teams up through the county rankings this week.
Santa Margarita beat then third-ranked Villa Park on Tuesday, 113-57, and Edison knocked off the Spartans on Thursday, 103-67.
As a result, Santa Margarita moved from No. 5 to No. 2 in the coaches’ poll, and Edison jumped from No. 7 to No. 4. The Spartans dropped to No. 8.

The Garden Grove boys’ swim team is off its best start in more than five years.
