Matadors Trounce Temple

Tim Arroyo hit two doubles and a single, and Jason Gorman homered as Cal State Northridge defeated Temple, 8-2, on Thursday in a nonconference baseball game at Matador Field.
Bill Murphy (4-0) allowed six hits and two runs in 5 1/3 innings for Northridge (11-6), which plays Temple (0-12) in an 11 a.m. doubleheader today.
Pierce 3, Glendale 2--Nick Friedman singled in the winning run in the 11th inning for the Brahmas (11-6, 3-1 in conference play) in a Western State Conference Southern Division game at Pierce.
Peter Gunny of Pierce tied the score, 2-2, with a solo homer in the 10th.
Glendale is 12-2, 3-1.
Canyons 4, Valley 0--Ivan Hernandez pitched a two-hitter, striking out five in a WSC Southern Division victory for the Cougars (6-9-1, 2-2) at Valley.
Oxnard 5, Ventura 3--Paul McAnulty’s double broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning of a WSC Northern Division game at Ventura.
BOYS’ GOLF
Westlake 366, Nordhoff 393--Doug Miller shot a five-under-par 67 to lead Westlake (4-1) in a nonleague match at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai.
HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL
Taft 5, Monroe 0--Jillian Johnson (3-0) struck out 10 and walked one in a nonleague two-hitter for the Toreadors (3-1) at Monroe (0-1).
Simi Valley 0, Chaminade 0--Mandy Kilionski and Christina Luppachini combined for 31 strikeouts at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park in a game called because of darkness after 11 innings.
Kilionski, of Simi Valley, had 15 strikeouts and allowed only a ninth-inning single.
Luppachini had 16 strikeouts and allowed 10 singles.
