Northridge Loses, but Is Still Alive

Portland State beat Cal State Northridge, 54-52, on Saturday night in a Big sky Conference women’s basketball finale at Northridge.
Northridge (9-18, 5-10 in Big Sky play) finished tied with Eastern Washington (10-17, 5-10), which lost, 61-59, Saturday at Northern Arizona.
The Matadors and the Eagles will play a playoff Wednesday at Pocatello, Idaho, to determine the sixth and final spot in the Big Sky Conference tournament.
BASEBALL
Pepperdine 2, Portland 1--Noah Lowry (5-0) struck out nine in eight innings for the Waves (12-2, 2-0) in a West Coast Conference game at Portland.
Pierce 13, Valley 5--Tony Cicero homered, singled and drove in four runs in a Western State Conference Southern Division victory for the Brahmas (10-5, 2-0) at Pierce.
Glendale 8, Bakersfield 6--John Manuel’s tie-breaking two-run home run in the eighth inning lifted the Vaqueros (11-1, 2-0) to a WSC Southern Division victory at Stengel Field.
Oxnard 10, Hancock 7--Josh Miller went four for four with five runs batted in for the Condors (7-7, 1-1) in a WSC Northern Division victory at Oxnard.
