In Golf, Rules Aren’t Made to Be Broken

What’s with this guy Chris Dufresne in Monday’s column? He’s back in Tulsa (I assume on your payroll) covering the U.S. Open playoff, tromps on the 18th green, gets reprimanded by a USGA official and writes a three-column whiny article on what’s wrong with golf.

Granted there are a number of things in golf that could be improved upon, but ignoring the rules and ripping up greens with metal spikes aren’t two of them. In today’s world, golf is the last bastion of civility and good manners in a sports scene wrought with trash-talking, self-promoting athletes who have no concept of what sportsmanship is all about. Maybe assigning this guy on the wrestling beat for awhile would improve his perspective.
