New El Original Album No. 8 in Southland
El Original de la Sierra, left, continues his local success with his new album, “Homenaje a Chalino Sanchez.†El Original’s last record, “Guerra de Estados Pesados,†went gold, and his new album--a collection of corridos popularized by the slain singer Chalino Sanchez--entered the Southern California chart at No. 8. That’s a reflection of his hometown following, and if he can get his national numbers up from No. 146, he may get to add another gold record to his mantel.
