Information Sought in Sunday Drive-By Killing

Police sought the public’s help Wednesday in solving what they believe is a gang-related homicide in Sylmar.
George Cruz was standing on the sidewalk in the 12700 block of Bradley Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday when someone drove by and fatally shot him. Cruz reportedly was not a gang member.
Citing several recent nonfatal shootings in Sylmar involving various gangs, detectives were trying to determine whether the Cruz homicide was a payback for any of those, police said.
