A Northridge woman was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment Wednesday after an off-duty police officer noticed her children suffering in the heat of her parked van while she was grocery shopping, Los Angeles Police said.
The officer was walking through the Vons parking lot in the 18500 block of Nordhoff Street at 11:40 a.m. when he saw the children, ages 7 weeks and 1 1/2, sweating in the van.
The mother, Subha Sadaf, 21, returned to the vehicle and was taken into custody. The children were taken to a hospital, checked over and released to their father. Sadaf’s bail is set at $50,000.
The high temperature in Northridge on Wednesday was 86 degrees.
