Detention Facility’s Area for Visitors Criticized

The Ventura County Grand Jury has found that the visitors’ area at the Honor Farm Minimum Detention Facility is unsatisfactory, offering the opportunity for visitors to pass weapons or contraband to inmates.
The visiting area at the Ojai facility is for high-risk inmates and is located in a former dining area. Visitors are separated from inmates by a removable wood partition placed down the center of a former dining table. Sheriff’s deputies use metal-detector wands to search then hit a wake and sent the father and son into the water.
