Kegley, Olson Team Up in Thousand Oaks Win

Kyle Kegley and Ben Olson each scored 25 points to lead Thousand Oaks High to a 69-62 victory over visiting Moorpark in a Marmonte League boys’ basketball game Friday night.

Kegley scored 16 of the Lancers’ 23 second-quarter points. Olson had 10 points in the fourth quarter, when Thousand Oaks (12-4, 2-1 in league play) extended its lead.

Ron Russ scored 18 points for Moorpark (11-6, 2-2).

In other boys’ basketball games:

Agoura 55, Royal 43--Kevin Cornwell scored 14 points and Adam Allegro added 13 for Agoura (14-3, 3-1) in a Marmonte League game at Royal, setting up a first-place showdown Monday at Simi Valley.

Ventura 69, Dos Pueblos 66--Trevor Prophet made a three-point basket with 25 seconds left in the second overtime to give Ventura a 67-66 lead and Jimmy Ikeda added two free throws in a Channel League game at Ventura. The Cougars are 11-8, 2-1.

Crescenta Valley 86, Pasadena 65--James Jenkins had 35 points and 11 rebounds for the No. 1-ranked Falcons (14-3, 2-0) in a Pacific League victory at Crescenta Valley.

Jenkins made 15 of 23 shots and all four of his free throws.

Taft 90, Birmingham 76--Mustafa Asghari had 34 points, nine assists and four steals for the Toreadors (13-4, 2-0) in a West Valley League victory at Taft.

Asghari, who made 11 of 14 shots, has scored at least 30 points in five of the last six games.

Chatsworth 95, Granada Hills 93--Shayne Berry had 32 points and 10 rebounds, and Scott Johnston had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead host Chatsworth (11-6, 2-0) in a West Valley League game.

Canoga Park 74, Verdugo Hills 59--Cecil Brown had 44 points, 11 rebounds and six steals for Canoga Park (8-9, 1-1) in a Sunset Six League game at Verdugo Hills. Brown missed all six of his three-point shots, but he was 20 of 22 on two-point shots.

Grant 80, Hollywood 77--Mike Charleston scored 25 points and Gino Riney had 17 points and nine assists for the Lancers (12-5, 2-0) in a Sunset Six League victory at Grant.

North Hollywood 78, Poly 76--Ken Hauser had 29 points for the Huskies (12-4, 2-0) in a triple overtime Sunset Six League victory at North Hollywood.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Chatsworth 55, Granada Hills 36--Lindsey Eichler had 18 points and nine rebounds for Chatsworth (12-5, 2-0) in a West Valley League game at Granada Hills.

El Camino Real 54, Cleveland 52--Karen Shun and Victoria Wong each scored 18 points for El Camino Real (9-4, 2-0) in a West Valley League game at Cleveland.

Saugus 56, Burroughs 44--Annmarie Summerhays had 21 points and five steals for the Centurions (16-2, 3-0) in a Foothill League victory at Saugus.

Moorpark 64, Thousand Oaks 47--Kristin Nadas had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Musketeers (12-3, 3-1) in a Marmonte League victory at Moorpark.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Thousand Oaks 3, Moorpark 2--Nathan Chu’s penalty kick with one minute left lifted Thousand Oaks (7-2-4, 3-0-1) in a Marmonte League game at Moorpark College that was marred by five player ejections and one ejection of a fan.

Four red cards were issued during a second-half melee in front of the Thousand Oaks goal.
