Reuben Quesada chastises DreamWorks and Disney for the clownish “caricatures†of people of color in their animated features (Letters, Dec. 24). Good heavens--characters in a children’s cartoon that do and say silly and humorous things: What will the studios subject us to next?
Quesada also suggests that the studios take the Anglo culture of the United States and portray its population and leaders as “bumbling, lascivious and simple-minded clowns.†I will certainly pass that idea on to the producers of animated entertainment such as “The Simpsons,†“South Park†and “King of the Hill.â€
Oh wait, maybe someone already has.
