John J. Bruesch, a former real estate broker, has died at the age of 84.
Bruesch, who died Thursday at his Ventura home after a lengthy illness, was born July 9, 1916, in Joplin, Mo.
Bruesch was a logger in Oregon and Alaska and was a sailor during World War II.
He also worked in a crystal mine in Arkansas and on railroads in California, and traveled the world with his wife, Nell.
Bruesch was a collector of rocks and minerals, which he loved to cut, polish and display.
He was a member of the Ventura Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by one son, John Bruesch; two daughters, Nancy Truman and Kathleen Calhoun; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A service was held Monday at the Ventura Church of Christ.

Arrangements were under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
