Man Who Shot Woman and Killed Himself Identified
CANOGA PARK — A man who shot and seriously wounded a woman in the frontyard of her home and then shot himself to death as a limousine driver looked on was identified Tuesday by Los Angeles police.
The gunman was Charles F. Siegel, 60, of Sherman Oaks, said Det. Rick Swanston of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division.
The 54-year-old victim of the shooting, Sherry Schwartz, remained in critical condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The shooting occurred Monday afternoon after the limousine driver took Siegel, described by neighbors and others as an ex-boyfriend of Schwartz, to her home in the 22300 block of Wyandotte Street.
