Former President Ford will appear at Chapman University in Orange on Saturday.
From 3:45 to 5:15 p.m., four Chapman students who are taking a class on Ford’s years in office will present their essays on his presidency, and he will comment on them.
That night, the university will present Ford with its Global Citizen medal. Former President George H. W. Bush received the award last year.
The events will follow “To Heal the Nation: the Gerald R. Ford Symposium,” held today and Friday and sponsored by Chapman’s Center for Cold War Studies.
Ford will not attend the symposium. Among the panelists will be former Rep. Dan Rostenkowsi, former national security advisor Brent Scowcroft and High Sidey, long-time presidential chronicler for Time magazine.
The symposium will be held both days from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the George Bush Conference Center in Beckman Hall. It is open free to the public.
Ford’s meeting with the students is open to invited faculty and students. The events will be broadcast over the Web at https://www.chapman.edu/wilkinson/socsci/coldwar/ford/pages/webcast.html.
