* Family--Performances to Grow On will present the David Taylor Dance Theatre performing “Rainforest” March 2 at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Kavli Theatre. The two-act production, noted for its visual effects, depicts the animals, plants, insects and indigenous people who live in the rain forest. Show time: 7 p.m. The theater is at 2100 E. * Voices--Los Robles Master Chorale, led by guest conductor Paul Salamunovich, will perform March 3 at 8 p.m. at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Kavli Theatre. Salamunovich is director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale. The Los Robles Children’s Choir will also perform. Program: “Lux Aeterna” by Morten Lauridsen and Gabriel Faure’s Requiem. * Culture--Afro-Centric Committee of Ventura County will present its seventh annual Afro-Centric Marketplace on March 3 at Sycamore Plaza, 2974 Cochran Drive, Simi Valley. The Black History Month celebration will include displays of African American-inspired jewelry, clothing, literature and other educational materials and historical exhibits, plus continuous entertainment, including storytelling, dancing and music. * Women--American Assn. of University Women, Thousand Oaks branch, and the Women’s Resource Center at Cal Lutheran University will present the 22nd annual “Creative Options Day: A Day for Women” on March 3. Held on the Cal Lutheran campus, the event will offer an array of workshops on such topics as self-defense, sexual harassment, career planning and family issues. Keynote speakers: Janese Swanson, founder of Girl Tech and eDames, and her teenage daughter, Jackie Swanson. Hours: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The campus is at 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. * More Voices--Ventura Master Chorale, under the direction of Burns Taft, will perform Amy Beach’s Mass in E flat on March 4 at Ventura High School Auditorium, 2155 E. Main St. The chorale will be joined by Ventura College Community Orchestra. Show time: 4 p.m. $15-$20. 653-7282.
