Santa Clara 72, Verbum Dei 70--Alex Minney scored seven of his 20 points in overtime as the No. 16-seeded Saints upset No. 1-seeded Verbum Dei at Santa Clara.
Verbum Dei’s Dean Marcus hit a three-pointer with six seconds to play to force overtime. Richard Chaney scored 28 points for the Eagles (24-4).
Albert Soria scored 26 points, including six three-pointers in the first half, for the Saints (15-10).
