A local plastic surgeon has pledged $60,000 to Alliance for the Arts, the fund-raising entity of the Civic Arts Plaza, officials of the organization said this week.
Edward Terino’s donation makes him the first member of the so-called Millennium Founders Circle, comprising the second 100 people who commit to gifts of $50,000 or more. The first 100 major donors, known as the First 100 Founding Fathers, raised more than $15 million from 1993 to 1998.
Terino’s donation will help support more than 400 performances annually at the venue, which are attended by 300,000 people, said executive director Patricia Moore.
Alliance officials also announced that William D. Dallas of Westlake Village will head the organization’s major gifts campaign in the coming year.
Dallas became an alliance founder in 1998 when he donated $1.5 million. He said his goal is to double the $15 million raised by the first major campaign.
