The Port of Los Angeles has awarded a $78-million contract to Anaheim-based Sully-Miller Contracting Co. to develop more than 300 acres of cargo storage space as part of the port’s massive Pier 400 container terminal project. Sully-Miller, which recently completed a $30-million Caltrans project in Riverside, is a U.S. subsidiary of French company Colas Inc. Sully-Miller plans to use about 125 workers for the project, which is scheduled to begin in March and be completed by May 2002. Phase I of Pier 400, future home of the mammoth Maersk Sealand terminal, is also expected to be finished by that time.
