Crescenta Valley guard Jimmy Goffredo, who had been battling mononucleosis, has been cleared to play Friday in a Division I-AA playoff opener against Huntington Beach Marina.
Goffredo, averaging 19.2 points for the Falcons (20-6), was held out of a victory against Arcadia on Thursday, but had a light practice on Monday.
“I’m definitely not going to be 100%,” Goffredo said. “I’m still a little weak. I’ll play at 80 or 90%.”

Buckley Coach Dan Haasch had been holding his breath. When his cell phone rang, he exhaled. And smiled at the news.
Buckley lost its last regular-season game on Thursday, but became the outright Liberty League champion when Providence lost to Oakwood in overtime on Friday.
The Griffins (21-3) won consecutive league titles for the first time since 1973-74 and are seeded No. 3 in Division V-AA.
“I guess I ought to send a candygram to [Oakwood Coach] Angel [Hardy],” Haasch said.
Providence (15-8) finished second to Buckley for the second consecutive season and is seeded No. 4 in Division IV-A.
Oakwood (15-9) finished fourth in league and plays at St. Margaret’s in the first round of the Division V-AA playoffs.
