Man Is Critically Hurt by Snapped Tow Chain
A man was hospitalized Friday after a metal chain snapped, hit him in the stomach and threw him against a train car in Buena Park, police said.
Luis Chavez, 40, of Buena Park was taken by helicopter to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he remains in critical condition, said Buena Park Police Lt. Ken Coovert.
The man and other employees at Pacific Transportation were using a tractor truck to pull a train car about 10 a.m. in the 6200 block of Caballero Boulevard when a tow line broke, police said.
Police and the California division of Occupational Safety and Health are investigating.
