Van’s Driver Dies After Hitting Divider
A man died Thursday after his van hit the divider on the Riverside Freeway. The man, who has not been identified, was driving a beige 1995 Ford Econoline west on the freeway about 5 p.m., when it veered into the center divider just east of the Brookhurst Street exit, said California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Reeves.
The man, who was born in 1941, suffered “major injuries†and was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he died, Reeves said.
The carpool lane and an adjacent lane were blocked for more than an hour, causing lengthy delays during rush hour, Reeves said.
