FEATS OF THE WEEK
* In the second half of Canyon Country Canyon’s 61-48 victory over Mission Hills Alemany, Erika Doyle didn’t miss a shot, making three three-point baskets, three other field goals and eight free throws as part of a 32-point effort.
* In Newhall Hart’s 77-50 victory over Crescenta, the Indians scored a school-record 35 first-quarter points. Four days later, the Indians set a school scoring record with a 118-22 win over Santa Clara.
* Kelly Geis of El Segundo scored 33 points to give the Eagles their second victory, 52-24, over Fullerton Sunny Hills..
* Markeisha Lee’s double-double--25 points, 21 rebounds--led Riverside King to a 51-33 victory over Paloma Valley.
COMEBACKS
* Riverside King overcame a 42-24 deficit to Los Altos going into the fourth quarter to score a 53-49 victory.
* Whittier La Serna overcame an eight-point, fourth-quarter deficit to beat Long Beach Millikan, 62-58. Monique Gayton scored nine of her 23 points in the final quarter.
* Down by 11, La Canada Flintridge Prep’s 18-2 run to open the fourth quarter led to a 51-49 victory over Pomona.
LOOKING AHEAD
* If the Artesia tournament plays out the way it’s seeded, the semifinals on Friday will be La Puente Bishop Amat vs. Long Beach Poly and Irvine Woodbridge vs. Lakewood Artesia. Those should also create terrific third-place and championship games on Saturday.
* If all goes as expected, the teams considered No. 1 and 2 nationally in preseason rankings will meet on Saturday at the Nike Tournament of Champions: Highland Ranch, Colo., vs. Harbor City Narbonne at Corona del Sol High in Tempe, Ariz.
