UPS, Mechanics Reach Tentative Contract
United Parcel Service Inc. and a union for 1,180 aircraft mechanics reached a tentative contract agreement about 10 months after starting talks, federal mediators said.
The company, Teamsters Local 2727 and the National Mediation Board will finish contract language this week, the U.S. agency said. Atlanta-based United Parcel and the union local declined to comment on the agreement, at the board’s request. Union members would have to approve the contract.
The extended talks in Washington settled issues on wages, pension and 401(k) plans, job classifications, health and disability coverage and contract length, according to the union’s Web site.
United Parcel shares rose 21 cents to $55.30 on the NYSE.
