Man Killed, Passenger Hurt in 2-Car Collision
A 19-year-old Oak Park man was killed after his car collided with another and burst into flames, authorities said Sunday.
Jason Morgan was westbound on Thousand Oaks Boulevard near Via Merida about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when his 1990 Corvette swerved into the eastbound lane and hit a BMW driven by a 52-year-old man from Westlake Village, authorities said.
Morgan died at the scene. Authorities would not identify the BMW driver, who was not injured.
After the collision, Morgan’s car struck a traffic light control box and a wall before flipping onto its side and catching fire.
A passenger in Morgan’s car, 19-year-old Daniel Kier, escaped from the vehicle and was treated for minor injuries at a Thousand Oaks hospital.
Investigators believe Morgan was speeding.
