Discrimination Suit Filed Against Cracker Barrel

From Times Wire Reports

A $100-million federal lawsuit was filed in Rome, Ga., by 21 people against Cracker Barrel restaurants, accusing the Lebanon, Tenn.-based chain of racism by segregating black customers in the smoking section and denying them service.

It was the largest civil rights lawsuit against a restaurant chain since Denny’s settled a $46-million discrimination lawsuit in 1994.

Much of the lawsuit, citing alleged acts of racism in 175 cities in 30 states, focuses on the statements of black customers, recounting how they were forced to wait while white customers were promptly seated.
