From Times Staff Reports
A judge sentenced a former security guard to life in prison without parole Wednesday for the 1999 robbery-killing of a Newhall supermarket manager.
Vicente Godoy, 29, had let two robbers in through the back of Tresierras market during his shift, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Lori Dery.
One of the robbers was Godoy’s brother-in-law, Carmelo Corado, 42, Dery said. Godoy and Corado, both of Canyon Country, were convicted of first-degree murder by separate juries. A third man was arrested but later released.
Corado is expected to be sentenced today.
