Santa Ana Now Alone in Second

Santa Ana’s softball team took over sole possession of second place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 1-0 victory Wednesday over visiting Riverside.
The Dons (31-11-1, 15-4) scored in the bottom of the seventh inning when Kristen Smith came home on a throwing error.
In another conference game:
Fullerton 8, Orange Coast 0 (6, mercy)--Colleen Burdick tossed a one-hitter with five strikeouts for visiting Fullerton (31-8-1, 16-3). Andrea Lindgren was four for four for the Hornets.
In nonconference men’s golf:
Santiago Canyon 371, Santa Ana 378, Cerritos 408--Rob Clever shot two-under 70 for Santiago Canyon at Los Serranos North.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:
Orange Coast 3, Grossmont 1--Josh Miller and Kevin Goff had seven kills each as first-place Orange Coast (20-1, 15-1) finished the regular season with a 25-9, 25-21, 20-25, 25-15 victory.
