Miller Provides Punch For Hart in 3-2 Victory

Mike Miller had two hits and drove in all of Hart High’s runs in a 3-2 victory Monday over host El Modena in pool play of the Villa Park baseball tournament.
Miller’s two-out single broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the third inning and his two-out double in the first gave Hart (15-0), ranked No. 2 in The Times’ regional poll, a 2-0 lead.
Eric Posthumus (4-0) allowed three hits, struck out five, walked one and hit two batters in six innings.
Bill Susdorf recorded his fourth save for Hart. He also had a hit and scored a run.
Canyon 3, La Sierra 2--Ryan Burke singled in the tying run in the eighth inning and drove in the winning run in the 10th of a Baldwin Park tournament game at Canyon.
Jake Coash struck out 15 and allowed three hits in eight innings for Canyon (8-5-1).
Calabasas 4, Rancho Cucamonga 1--John Henry Jacobs (2-0) and Justin Segal combined for a two-hitter and seven strikeouts, and Glen Anderson had two hits for the Coyotes (10-4) in a Babe Herman tournament game at Stengel Field in Glendale.
Nordhoff 4, Azusa 2--Travis Flowers (4-1) threw a five-hitter, struck out seven and walked three for Nordhoff (6-4-1) in a first-round game of the Gladstone tournament.
San Fernando 14, Westchester 3--Aldo Montalvan had three hits and four RBIs for the No. 5-ranked Tigers in pool play of the Birmingham tournament.
Montalvan had a two-run double in the first, and run-scoring singles in the second and fourth for San Fernando (14-2).
Gladstone 3, Village Christian 2--Casey Fritts had two hits and two RBIs for the Crusaders (10-3) in a first-round game of the Gladstone tournament.
Daniel Bowman (7-1) was charged with his first loss. He allowed nine hits, struck out six and walked three. He gave up two earned runs.
Lakewood 3, Camarillo 2--Delmon Young had three hits, but the Scorpions (13-5) gave up three runs in the seventh inning of a Redondo tournament game at Lakewood.
HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL
Hart 2-14, Agoura 1-6--Kristen Lueke had four hits, two RBIs and scored two runs to help the visiting Indians sweep a nonleague doubleheader.
Megan Flaherty had three hits and scored twice for Hart (14-1) in the second game.
BOYS’ TRACK
Loyola 84, Notre Dame 43--Jon Williams led the Knights to 1-2-3 finishes in the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300 intermediates, but host Loyola won 12 of 15 events in a Mission League meet.
Williams, defending Southern Section Division III champion in the high hurdles and intermediates, clocked 15.0 in the highs while running into a wind and 39.0 in the intermediates for Notre Dame (4-1, 4-1).
Loyola (5-0, 5-0) outscored Notre Dame, 25-2, in the distance events while winning its 91st consecutive dual meet.
BOYS’ GOLF
Westlake 390, Simi Valley 413, Dos Pueblos 450--Brian O’Flaherty shot a one-over-par 72 for Westlake (20-1) in a nonleague match at North Ranch Country Club.
O’Flaherty had two birdies and three bogeys.
