St. Bonaventure 44, St. Joseph 22--Lorenzo Booker rushed for 309 yards and five touchdowns in 21 carries for the Seraphs (4-0) at St. Joseph (2-2) in Santa Maria.
Trailing, 22-9, with eight minutes left in the third quarter, St. Bonaventure scored 35 unanswered points to win its 18th consecutive game, the longest winning streak in the region and second-longest in the state.
Booker gave the Seraphs a 23-22 lead when he scored on a 35-yard run with 3:46 left in the third quarter.
Booker also scored on runs of 40, 27, 40 and 15 yards.
Quarterback Jack Swisher teamed with Whitney Lewis for a 76-yard touchdown pass to cut the St. Joseph lead to 22-16 with 6:29 left in the third quarter.
St. Joseph’s Dustin Kelly completed 23 of 43 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns and receiver Ryan Smith caught 11 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown.
