Billabong Pro Makes Them Feel at Home

Sydney is blessed with exceptional beaches and waterways. The most beautiful lie north of the harbor. One of them, Manly Beach, was known for decades as one of Australia’s greatest surfing beaches. It is there that many of the world’s best surfers showcased their skills.
“Australians love the beach. We live the beach life,” said Luke Egan, one of the world’s top-ranked surfers. “We’re surrounded by water, so surfing’s huge out there. That’s why some of the best surfers come out of Australia.”
And Southern California is where 44 of the world’s top pro surfers, including 17 Australians, will be this week for the Billabong Pro at Lower Trestles, just south of San Clemente.
Competition begins at 8 a.m today and Saturday. Free parking is available off Christianitos Road and Interstate 5. From there, it is approximately a half-mile walk to the beach.
