Palmdale, Highland and Antelope Valley were preseason picks to battle for the Golden League title, and they still might.
But after two weeks, it’s Lancaster and Littlerock who are alone with 2-0 records.
“Everybody was telling us how this was going to be a rebuilding year,” said first-year Coach Troy Jackson of Lancaster, whose team has defeated Chaminade and Sultana. “But we have a lot of older players who work very hard.”
A good measuring stick for Littlerock will come this week in a nonleague game at Barstow.
Barstow, a Southern Section Division VIII finalist last season, lost to Golden League favorite Palmdale, 14-12, in the opener.
