Deputies Arrest 5 at DUI Checkpoints
Orange County sheriff’s deputies arrested five drunken drivers and ticketed 17 people for driving without a valid license at checkpoints in Mission Viejo and Lake Forest over the weekend, a sheriff’s official said Sunday.
More than 3,000 cars were stopped at Alicia Parkway and Trabuco Road in Mission Viejo on Saturday night and Friday night in Lake Forest at El Toro Road and Santa Margarita Parkway, a dispatcher said.
On Saturday night, deputies stopped 2,750 vehicles and arrested two people on suspicion of driving while drunk, the dispatcher said. Two others were arrested on outstanding warrants, and 14 people were cited for driving with a suspended license or because they had no license. Sixteen vehicles were towed, the dispatcher said.
About 400 vehicles were stopped in Lake Forest on Friday night. There, deputies arrested three people for drunken driving and one person on weapons and drug charges. Three drivers were cited for driving without a valid license, and seven vehicles were towed, the dispatcher said.
