7 TONIGHT HUNTINGTON BEACH HIGH

Edison took the first step in its quest for its first league title since 1990 by defeating Los Alamitos last week, 29-14. Now, the Chargers must avoid a letdown that could negate that victory. After weathering a back injury early in the season, Darryl Poston has carried at least 24 times in each of the last three games and scored eight touchdowns. Edison, which gave up an average of 24.2 points in nonleague games, has yielded only 24 the last two weeks. Marina, ranked in the top 10 earlier this season, won’t be at full strength--quarterback Beau Brown (bruised collarbone) is doubtful.
