Re “Job Termination Issues Don’t Belong in Courts,†Commentary, Oct. 12: Joseph Herman’s assertion that a collective-bargaining agreement would not have protected John Guz is disingenuous. He knows that any collective bargaining agreement worth its salt contains a seniority clause. Even if Bechtel had laid off everyone in Guz’s department, his seniority might have allowed him to “bump†into another department depending on contractual language.
