Steve Bennett
* The 1st District supervisorial race could be a defining moment for Ventura County because Steve Bennett and Jim Monahan have such differing views about concepts like urban sprawl and health care (Measure O, for example). Both are extremely significant issues for the Board of Supervisors.
Look what Bennett has already accomplished: As a Ventura city councilman, he so impressed the people he worked with that he is now endorsed by the Ventura Police Officers Assn., Mayor Sandy Smith, former Mayor Jim Friedman and former Mayor John McWherter.
Bennett left the City Council to co-lead the highly successful Save Open Space and Agricultural Resources (SOAR) movement throughout the county, setting boundaries to prevent the loss of farmland and open space between our cities.
Bennett is an articulate, thoughtful, highly organized leader. He would bring to the Board of Supervisors an open mind, a bright energetic intelligence and a cooperative modus operandi.
