The Planning Commission delayed voting on a request to build an antenna and two transceiver stations near the El Camino Real neighborhood.

The commission last week asked Pacific Bell Wireless to provide the city with more information on alternative sites, and postponed a scheduled vote on the matter until Nov. 2.

Several residents opposed plans to build the 67-foot antenna and transceivers at 4918 Irvine Center Drive, voicing concern about possible noise, unsightliness and health hazards. Resident Byron Burton was one of the neighbors who suggested there must be other locations more suitable for the equipment. The Irvine Center Drive location is near homes and apartments.
