PLACENTIA
Thomas F. Nixon was named city attorney after the council awarded the contract to the legal firm of Woodruff, Spradlin & Smart.
The search for a city attorney began after Carol Tanenbaum announced she would retire at the end of September.
Nixon has 16 years of municipal and environmental law experience with the firm. Nixon has served as general counsel to the San Diego Regional Solid Waste Assn. since 1998, as deputy assistant city attorney for Tustin from 1985 to the present and as assistant city attorney for Laguna Hills from 1991 to the present.
