Top Court OKs Listening In Later
Keeping with tradition, the U.S. Supreme Court will bar cameras from the courtroom Friday, when it hears arguments on whether the Florida Supreme Court overstepped its authority when it compelled the state to accept the results from hand recounts in the state’s presidential election.
However, an audiotape of the oral arguments will be broadcast soon after the hearing’s conclusion, although the exact time remains uncertain. The hearing is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. PST.
C-SPAN will air the tape in its entirety as soon as it is available, supplementing it with pictures or drawings of the Supreme Court justices and lawyers involved in the case. Other television and radio networks may also broadcast sound from the hearing, in part or in full.
A transcript of the hearing will be posted Friday on the high court’s Web site at https://www.supremecourtus.gov.
