Art Museum Seeks Volunteers, Docents

The Carnegie Art Museum is seeking volunteers and docents to help support its rapidly growing exhibits and educational programs.
The museum needs volunteers to help with special events, ongoing museum projects, mailings, office work and collection care, said museum spokeswoman Patricia Vincent. The volunteers will help enable the museum to bring art programs to the Oxnard community.
“Volunteering at the museum is a fun and rewarding experience,” Vincent said. “The volunteers can participate in training opportunities, special volunteer activities, enriching lectures and flexible scheduling.”
Volunteers who can give a minimum of four hours per month are encouraged to attend an hourlong orientation Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at the museum, 424 South C St.
Docent volunteers are also needed for the museum’s tour and education training program, which will begin in late January. Those interested in becoming a docent are encouraged to call the museum at 385-8171 for more information.
