Defensive back Ryan Foltz of Westlake, one of the region’s top players, is close to making his college choice.

Foltz is scheduled to meet with Coach Tom Holmoe of California on Tuesday and could commit.

Lance Fauria, a former tight end at Crespi, has Santa Maria St. Joseph in the Division X quarterfinals.

Fauria, who previously served as an assistant coach at Chaminade, has put in an offense that helped his quarterback break the St. Joseph passing record held by NFL quarterback Mark Brunell.
