The potential matchup that helped to put Eisenhower in a tizzy on pairings day has become reality as the third-seeded Eagles face the unseeded Monarchs. Because Mater Dei finished second to Santa Margarita in the Serra League, it had to be placed in a different Division I playoff bracket, and the Southern Section wasn’t about to have the Monarchs face top-seeded Long Beach Poly or second-seeded Loyola in the second round. Hence, Eisenhower, which beat Los Alamitos, 35-21, in the first round. Oh yeah, Mater Dei defeated Eisenhower, 28-21, in a semifinal last year.
