The Crooks family has been chosen Family of the Year for 2000 by the city.
Clancy and Ellen Crooks raised four boys in the city and have been heavily involved in their sporting activities, while still volunteering at school, church and community events.
The oldest, Mike Parcells, a nephew the Crookses raised since childhood, is married, has two sons and is a police officer in Long Beach. Brian, the second oldest, is a substitute teacher and football coach at Fullerton Junior College. The youngest sons, Jeff and Chris, attend Fullerton Junior College and play on the football team.
The Cypress Family of the Year Committee selected the Crookses because they have remained together “as a unit” while celebrating or enduring hardships throughout the years. The Crookses will be recognized by the City Council on Nov. 27. Information: (714) 229-6680.
