Man Hit, Killed as He Crosses Freeway

A North Hollywood man was killed early Sunday when he was hit by a car as he crossed a freeway, authorities said.
Jon Webster Leipsic, 43, was walking across the Golden State Freeway near Lankershim Boulevard about 3 a.m. Sunday when a southbound 1991 Honda Civic, cruising at about 65 mph, slammed into him, according to the California Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.
The driver was unharmed, and Leipsic died at the scene, said Officer Frank Sansone of the CHP.
Authorities said they did not know why Leipsic walked across the freeway. The driver of the car was not arrested, Sansone said.
