Annual attendance at the city’s Fitness Complex, located in the Community Center, has risen from 9,730 visits in fiscal year 1996-97 to 89,240 visits in 1999-2000.
The ninefold increase has been accompanied by a rise in revenue to $322,000, above the goal of $275,000.
To keep up with the increasing demand, city officials decided to make the part-time fitness and wellness specialist a full-time employee.
