Slowing Demand
The growth in job postings for graduates at colleges slowed to 3.1% in September, down from a year-over-year record in March of 50%, according to the latest sampling from Jobtrak.com, an online employment marketplace.
The number of job postings in sales, marketing, advertising and public relations declined the most, down 16.6% over September 1999, while demand for grads in education showed the greatest increase, 36.7%.
Jobs in the computer and information science field carried the biggest average starting salary, $49,245. Bringing up the rear were postings for secretaries and clerks at $27,840.
