St. Bernard 24, Harvard-Westlake 16--Kevin Ross intercepted Richard Irvin’s pass in the end zone with 1:01 remaining to end the Wolverines’ comeback bid and playoff hopes at St. Bernard.
Irvin’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Sammy Delrahim with 1:46 remaining pulled the Wolverines to within 24-16. Irvin’s two-point conversion pass fell incomplete.
Travis Burroughs recovered an onside kick for the Wolverines (1-9, 1-2) at the Vikings’ 49. Irvin completed four consecutive passes to get Harvard-Westlake to the St. Bernard 24-yard line before the interception.
Harvard-Westlake allowed touchdowns on two of St. Bernard’s first three possessions, but rallied for 10 points in the second quarter on Eric Altschul’s 28-yard field goal and Irvin’s 26-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Alexander-Bloch.
Irvin completed 21 of 43 passes for 229 yards two touchdowns and was intercepted three times. The Wolverines also lost three fumbles.
St. Bernard improved to 7-2-1, 2-1.
