Drew Chaffee, a 17-year-old San Juan Capistrano resident, will decorate downtown San Juan Capistrano with American flags for Veteran’s Day to complete his Eagle Scout project.
Drew collected donations from local businesses to fund the $4,000 project. The flags will be placed on the city’s utility poles on Camino Capistrano, Ortega Highway, Verdugo Street and El Camino Real. Drew’s fellow Eagle Scouts from Troop 702 of San Juan Capistrano will help with installation.
“He’s just inspiring. He’s a great kid,” said Mechelle Lawrence, San Juan Capistrano’s economic development manager.
