Buena Park’s defensive linemen--Andre Raglin, Cesar Gutierrez, Michael Delgado and Robert Cisneros--helped the Coyotes shut out Sunny Hills, 9-0, in a Freeway League game Friday at Buena Park High.
On Sunny Hills’ second possession, with a first down on Buena Park’s 43, Cisneros hit Rodriguez from behind and Raglin recovered the fumble.
Buena Park (5-4, 2-2) then went on a six-play, 66-yard drive that culminated with an Evan Lopez five-yard touchdown run with 4 minutes 36 seconds left in the first quarter. The conversion kick failed.
Lopez, a junior who started the scoring drive with a 35-yard run to the Sunny Hills 31, finished with 109 yards rushing in 19 carries.
The Lancers (0-9, 0-4) moved to the Coyote 11 early in the second quarter, but Kaleo Igarta was tackled for a one-yard loss by Cisneros on third down. Then, on fourth and three, Ryan Mansfield was stopped short of a first down by Delgado.
Sunny Hills was held to 25 total yards in the first half. Joey Alatorre had an interception for Sunny Hills.
