* CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE (3-5, 2-4) vs. CAL STATE SACRAMENTO (5-4, 3-3)

At Sacramento, 6:05 p.m.

The Matadors and Hornets meet for the 28th time in a Big Sky Conference game, with Northridge holding a 14-13 series edge. Northridge will leave the Big Sky after the season but will maintain its rivalry with its sister school to the north. Dating to 1964, it is the second-oldest rivalry in Northridge history. Northridge leads the series, 3-1, since both teams joined the Big Sky in 1996. All eyes will be on Sacramento running back Charles Roberts, who last week became the career rushing leader in NCAA Division I-AA with 6,209 yards. Roberts, a 5-foot-6 senior, has been a thorn for the Matadors. He rushed for 231 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-21 Hornet victory at Sacramento in 1998. Last season, Northridge posted a 36-14 victory at Northridge while Roberts rushed for 167 yards and did not score. Northridge intercepted two passes by quarterback Ricky Ray that led to first-half scores. The Matadors have won two in a row and are trying to finish with a winning record. Marcus Brady ran for two touchdowns and passed for two in a victory over Eastern Washington last week. He continues to be Northridge’s biggest threat, averaging 245 yards per game. His favorite target is Drew Amerson, who leads Northridge with 42 receptions despite being hobbled by a knee injury. D.J. Hackett has 31 catches for 407 yards and four touchdowns.

DIVISION III

* OCCIDENTAL (5-2, 2-1) vs. CAL LUTHERAN (2-5, 0-3)

At Mt. Clef Stadium, Thousand Oaks, 1 p.m.

The Kingsmen will try to snap a three-game losing streak in their final home game of the season. Cal Lutheran has won five in a row over the Tigers, including a 23-16 victory last season. Occidental has won five of its last six games, including a 27-15 nonconference victory over Pomona-Pitzer last week. The game will match Occidental’s defense, ranked No. 1 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, against the Kingsmen’s No. 1-ranked offense. Chris Czernek of Cal Lutheran averages 254 yards passing and Dorian Stitt leads the SCIAC in scoring and is third in rushing, averaging 118 yards a game. Jesus Zuniga of Occidental ranks second in the SCIAC in passing, averaging 189 yards a game, and has thrown 12 touchdown passes.

JUNIOR COLLEGE

* MOORPARK (5-2, 4-0) vs. VALLEY (1-6, 1-3)

At Valley, 7 p.m.

Moorpark must avoid a letdown after defeating Canyons, 31-26, last week to gain sole possession of first place in the Western State Conference Northern Division. The Raiders face a squad reduced to the role of spoiler. Valley, on a four-game skid, doesn’t seem much of a threat to Moorpark’s solid defense. The Monarchs rank last in the 16-team conference in offense at 253.1 yards per game. They have scored 30 points or more twice, including last week’s 39-32 loss to Ventura. Conversely, Moorpark is not running up the score on anybody. The Raiders have scored 30 points or more only once. The game features two outstanding kickers, Shawn Nakamura of Moorpark, who has made 14 extra points without a miss and 10 of 13 field-goal attempts, and Juan Ozuna of Valley, who is 18 of 18 on extra points and five of five on field goals.
